Daily Commentary
Monday September 20th
Corn: -5 ½
The corn market spent the entire session trading lower before finishing with a moderate loss. The December contract finished the day just over a nickel lower after trading over a dime lower at one point. General commodity weakness was seen today, weighing on the corn market. Weekly export loadings were better than expectations at over 16 million bushels. Early yield reports continue to be heard with some better-than-expected numbers from Iowa while Illinois is reporting more solid but disappointing number.
Soybeans: -21 ½
The soybean market was also under pressure for much of the session today with values ending with sharp losses. November futures ended over 21 cents lower while finishing near the session’s low. Soybean products were also lower today, ending with moderate losses. The concern over Chinese economic conditions weighed heavily on the Soybean market along with the US equity market. Soybean export loadings also remain slow to get ramped up with this morning’s report showing just over 10 million bushels shipped.
