Corn: -2 ¼
The corn market spent much of the day trading lower after a higher open last night. The March contract lost 2 cents on the day after trading in nearly a 9-cent range. Macro market influences were negative today with Covid concerns again cropping up. Lower crude oil values and a sharp sell-off in equities weighed on the market. Weekly export inspections were within expectations at just over 39 million bushels. This was up slightly from last week but below the levels of a year ago. Corn basis levels remain solid with spreads continuing to be firm.
Soybeans: +7
The soybean market traded both sides of unchanged overnight but spent much of the day trading modestly higher. January soybeans ended 7 cents higher, marking the 5th consecutive higher close. Soy products were mixed today with soybean meal making a new high for the move today. Dryness in South America has been a cause for some concern but most still expect the crop to be a new record. Soybean weekly export inspections were reported near 62 million bushels. The was down from last week and off sharply from last year.
