Better late than never, as we have been impatiently waiting for more of the sun's power for over a month now. Field work lags behind, the ground is still cold, and those pesky piles of snow still remain in shaded areas and fence rows, but it would seem spring has finally sprung.
This past weekend saw field work ramping up, anhydrous and dry fertilizer are out of the gate, and tillage is sure to follow with this weeks forecast. Surely there will be some corn planted this week. 4" soil temps as of yesterday saw the Mid-Iowa Cooperative trade territory just a touch under fifty degrees! As we look toward planting and beyond, this fall - and hopefully a bountiful harvest - awaits storage space to call home. Make no mistake, the Mill Junction project is full steam ahead.
The first bin began over the weekend and can be seen rising as you drive past on highway 14. Crews will be happy to see the mud retreating resulting in firm footing as the project progresses. We look forward to our opening later this summer and hope you do too!
